MY WORD FOR 2025

My word for 2025 is ✨C O N N E C T I O N✨

— to deepen and even re-establish connections that I have with myself, God, & community.

This isn’t going to just happen because I want it to. I have to put in the effort to show up to this task consistently & intentionally. I must be committed to the work of growing & evolving in order to walk in the peace that I desire & that God intends for me.

Often times, we have a desire to grow, but we are afraid of the vulnerability, effort, & accountability that it requires. But at a certain point in your life, the fear of staying the same has to outweigh the fear of the unknown. In other words, until you are sick & tired of being sick & tired of the same old shallow relationships, toxic environments, and low-vibrating energies then you will stay right where you are. And I don’t know about you, but I simply can’t imagine that for my life.

I think the beginning of an amazing new year starts with connection.

📝To deepen connection with self, commit to doing the work to radically & unapologetically accept yourself —mind, body, and spirit. This doesn’t mean there aren’t ways you can better yourself, but it does mean that until you identify & accept who you are you won’t be able to do the right work to be who you desire to be.

📝To deepen connection with God, treat your spiritual relationship similar to how you treat physical relationships. Invest the time into learning who God is through conversation with Him & active listening. Learn God’s love language & love him in the way that he desires (faith & obedience), while also being more aware & receptive of the ways that He loves you through people, provision, & protection.

📝To deepen connection with community, be more aware of opportunities to shift your gaze from individualistic tendencies that America values to a more communal lens such as the African value of Ubuntu (“I am because we are”). Recognize your responsibility as a member of the community who not only receives its benefits but must also pour back into it.
